Sauna & Ice Bath

Health benefits include: lower risk of heart disease, dementia and death from all causes, plus reduced anxiety, depression and pain. Or just hit your reset button and have some fun!

Sweat

Change clothes in our yoga studio. Then cross a lawn to our rustic, hot stone, barrel sauna. You have it all to yourself. If it’s raining or snowing, you can watch it fall while you’re enveloped in the warm scent of cedar. When you’ve had enough heat, step out into refreshing air. Depending on the season maybe you roll in the snow or listen to the crickets as you cool down.

The sauna comfortably seats four tall people. If you only have one or two, you can recline. If the people in your group are more petite and you don’t mind occasional skin contact, six will fit. How hot is it? Our sauna is usually 160° to 170° F and with cooperative weather, as high as 195° F.

Infrared or traditional? Each has benefits. We chose traditional to avoid navigating safety and effectiveness issues encountered with infrared (due to differing wavelengths, intensities and directions). Traditional saunas also tend to withstand the elements better and at BoMi, we’re all about the health benefits of being in nature. Traditional saunas are sometimes called “dry,” but you can enjoy them wet by sprinkling water on the hot stones.

Chill

If fresh air or snow aren’t enough to cool you down, add water. Step out of the sauna and plunge into a 100 gallon tank of cold water–plus ice if you’d like a little more “holy ****!”

Our bath can comfortably submerge one seated person, but if a friend makes the cold water more bearable, two can fit. If you’d rather just get your feet wet, you don’t have to submerge.

If you’d like details about the evidence-based benefits of sauna, ice bath, contrast therapy or discomfort tolerance just ask! We love education and questions.
